Rinat Esenaliev, PhD, SPIE Fellow, OSA Member, is Professor at the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology and Director of Laboratory for Optical Sensing and Monitoring at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas, USA. He has more than 30 years of experience on laser-tissue interaction, tissue ablation, and biomedical optics including 25 years of experience in biomedical optoacoustics, optoacoustic instrumentation, and applications in monitoring, sensing, and imaging. Dr. R. Esenaliev has pioneered a number of optoacoustic applications in biomedical imaging, sensing, and monitoring. His research interests include also nanotechnology, laser-based therapies of cancer and other diseases, anti-cancer drug delivery, OCT, and high-resolution ultrasound. Dr. R. Esenaliev is author of more than 150 publications.
